Former Olympian Bruce Jenner was involved in a four-car accident on Saturday on the Pacific Coast Highway, in Malibu. Since then, rumors have been circling about what caused the accident. At first, it was believed that Jenner was being followed by paparazzi, which was rumored to have caused the accident.

After further investigation, law enforcement officials determined that Jenner was not evading the paparazzi at the time of the accident. Pictures later surfaced that showed Jenner with something in his hand that resembled a cell phone. Afterwards, it was rumored that he was texting while driving, thus contributing to the cause of the accident. Shortly thereafter, more pictures surfaced which showed that Jenner was actually smoking, not texting while driving. This leaves everyone wondering, what exactly caused the tragic accident, and who was to blame.

On Saturday, February 7, Jenner had picked up his Polaris UTV after lending it to a wounded veteran group. He was driving behind a white Lexus, which abruptly rear ended the Prius in front of it. This caused him to rear end the Lexus, which sent it out into oncoming traffic. After that, a Humvee hit the car, killing the woman who was driving the Lexus.

This new information leads us to believe that Jenner did not in fact cause the accident. He was given a field sobriety test after the accident, which he passed. Afterwards, he volunteered to ride with the Sheriff to get his blood alcohol level tested. Jenner was very cooperative with law enforcement throughout the whole ordeal. According to a statement released by his publicist, on Sunday, Jenner said, “I will continue to cooperate in any way possible.”

After what seemed like an eternity, Jenner has finally broke his silence. His publicist, Alan Nierob released his statement on Sunday, February 8. He expressed his sympathy for the woman’s family and friends. His complete released statement is, “My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident.” Jenner continued by saying that he could not even begin to imagine what the family was going through, following the devastating tragedy. He ended his statement by saying he will be praying for them, and that he will continue to be as much of a help as possible.

Investigators are still unclear who or what caused the tragic domino-effect car accident. It is also unclear if there will be any charges filed in this case. It would appear that he was simply in the wrong place, at the wrong time. According to an eyewitness at the scene of the accident, it seemed as though the accident was started when the Lexus rear ended the Prius, which then caused Jenner to rear end the Lexus.

Jenner was clearly shaken by the devastating accident, and has just now been able to break his silence regarding the deadly accident.  An investigation is underway and law enforcement officials are still trying to determine what caused the accident, which has the possibility of revealing more information and may possibly lead to legal action.
