Following a brief rain delay, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines exchanged “I dos” and tied the knot on Saturday at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port on Cape Cod, Mass. Hines, 48, and Kennedy, 60, got married under a tent at the home of the groom’s mother, Ethel Kennedy. Reverend William F. Schulz officiated the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Kennedy clan and celebrities. Comedian Kevin Nealon and actors Larry David as well as Julia Louis-Dreyfus were among the stars who gathered at the home once owned by President John F. Kennedy. According to Daily Mail, English pop star Natasha Bedingfield and country singer Lyle Lovett performed at the party.

Hines wore a gown designed by Lithuanian-Canadian Romona Keveza. According to the designer, Hines timeless style is highly reminiscent of Kennedy women. Kennedy, while exchanging ‘I dos’ with Hines, wore a striped tie with a traditional suit under gloomy skies in Hyannis Port. According to Daily Mail, U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. delivered toasts to the newlyweds remarking on Kennedy’s accepting and loving manner, as well as Hines’ warmth and composure.

The bride, Hines, had a role in the ABC comedy show Suburgatory from 2011 to 2014 and was one of the stars in the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, which ran for 11 years from 2000 to 2011. She played the wife of Larry David. Hines is also a director and producer. She directed Serious Moonlight, a film released in 2009, and performed in the 2014 films Think Like a Man Too and Life After Beth. The second movie opened at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the premier showcase for independent film, and is to be in theaters in late August.

Kennedy is the 60-year-old president of the international water protection organization, Waterkeeper Alliance, and the chief prosecuting attorney for another environment organization called Riverkeeper. He is also the host of the radio show Ring of Fire and works as a lawyer for the Natural Resources Defense Council in New York. Kennedy graduated from Harvard and received his law degree from the University of Virginia.

Both of their first marriages ended in divorce. Larry David introduced them at a ski resort in Banff, Canada, and again the next year in Deer Valley, Utah. There was no romance until the third time they met at a resort in Aspen, Colo. Kennedy asked David for advice as things began to look serious with Hines. David said, “She is the most solid person I’ve ever met and nothing you ever do will rattle her.”

Hines and Kennedy started dating after the Camelot scion split with Mary Richardson, his former wife who hanged herself in the barn of their then-house in Westchester, NY. They announced their engagement in April 2014. Kennedy and Emily Ruth Black, his first wife, split in 1994. The Emmy Award winner actress Cheryl Hines, who got married for the second time, has an 11-year-old daughter, while Kennedy has six kids. Needless to say, there was a large family group present when Hines and Kennedy exchanged ‘I dos’ in Hyannis Port this past weekend. They will live in a recently purchased $ 5 million mansion in Malibu, Calif.
