Grammy Award winner and critically acclaimed singer, Alicia Keys, announced on Wednesday night that she is pregnant, with her second child. She made the announcement while wishing her husband, Kassem Dean, better known as well-renowned producer Swizz Beats, a very happy fourth wedding anniversary. This is the couple’s second child; their first child, Egypt Daoud Dean, will turn four on October 10th and the three year has also made headlines of his own earlier this year, after allegedly giving Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy a kiss.
Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys have been the consummate celebrity couple in recent years, but their relationship has not always been so smooth. Alicia Keys has openly admitted to finding her husband annoying after their first meeting, and the couple has also been chided and fulminated, by Swizz Beats’ ex wife Mashonda, who categorizes the award-winning songstress as a home wrecker.
Mashonda was married to Swizz Beats for 6 years, from 2004 to 2010. The couple had one child together, Kassem David Dean jr., who was born on January 6, 2006. In September of 2009 Mashonda wrote a soul bearing open letter to Ms Keys via twitlonger, which is a twitter feature that permits one to type messages a lot longer than 140 characters. In the letter Mashonda states in reference to Ms keys’ role in breaking up her marriage: “I feel that after [one] and a half years of you hiding this affair and acting like it [doesn’t] exist, that now is the time to confront it, since you talk so openly about it now… You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair.”
Alicia Keys adamantly denies any involvement with her current husband while he was still espoused to his former wife. She told Jet Magazine: “[They] were apart for some time before we ever got together… that doesn’t matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down… there’s no need to fight what’s not true.”
All and all the dispute seems to have been resolved, and some semblance of harmony has emerged between the three. In 2013, Mashonda was photographed wearing Alicia Keys’ custom designed signature Reebok shoes, and in March of this year the trio was spotted out in St. Bart’s on a family vacation. Swizz Beats and Alicia even shared a passionate kiss, while sitting right next to Mashonda.
The couple is extremely happy to bring a new child in the world and expressed their joy through social media. Ms Keys tweeted “And to make it even sweeter we’ve been blessed with another angel on the way!! You make me happier than I have ever known! Here’s to many many more years of the best parts of life! ☺️”
The expecting father responded with his own tweet of adulatin writing:
“Love is life & life is love and we’re so excited for another GIFT from up above Happy Anniversary my Goddess 4 years of greatness & cheers to 100 plus more inshallah @aliciakeys ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥”
The expected baby will be Alicia Keys’ second child and her husbands fourth.
