Summit in Singapore Will Be Historic

Summit

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, United States President Donald Trump was scheduled to meet with North Korean President Kim Jung Un. The historic meeting was the first time a U.S. president met solely with the leader of a country in Asia. The historic summit was in Singapore.

Several months of meetings and high-level tension has led to a political apex that was the summit. The political negotiations between prestigious North Korean and U.S. officials occurred two weeks after the U.S. president reversed plans to reject the peace meeting.

The politically significant event began on Monday, June 11, in Singapore. However, the date of the meeting was on Tuesday, June 12, in Singapore. The commander-and-chief left the G-7 summit in Charlevoix, Canada early. He then flew to the Far-East on Saturday, June 9.

The peace summit was to be held at the posh Capella Hotel on Sentosa, which is a resort island. The resort is off of the southern coast of Singapore. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House secretary, unveiled the location on Twitter. The White House secretary then stated the Trump administration would like to thank their Singaporean hosts for their kindness.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated on Thursday, June 3, that he will travel to the summit with Trump. They will then fly to South Korea and China to update the other leaders. Politico reported that in recent months the secretary of state has been a leading force in establishing a clear line of communication between Washington D.C. and the North Korean capital of Pyongyang, before the historic summit on Tuesday, June 12, in Singapore.

John Kelly, who is the chief of staff at the White House, attended the talks with President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo. Kelly was an additional presidential advisor that attended the historic political international meeting.

Fox News reported that President Kim brought an army of bodyguards with him to the historically significant peace talks with the Trump administration to Singapore. Shortly after the North Korean president’s plane landed in Changi Airport, his security detail was out in full force on Sunday, June 11.

Video images projected the sight of men jogging together with a black vehicle carrying the leader of the communist Asian state. The men were adorned in black suits with blue and white ties and the windows of the black vehicle were tinted.

Fox News reported that during the inter-Korean summit in late April, the men caught global attention when they were sighted in a very similar situation. The bodyguards formed a human shield-like formation around the black Mercedes limousine at the Demilitarized Zone. The limousine drove back to the North Korean occupied territory. The car is owned by North Korean Supreme Leader Kim.

President Trump said that the peace summit with the North Korean leader is a one-time shot to restore peace on the Korean peninsula. The historic summit on Tuesday, June 12, was in Singapore.
