Kanye West Shows Out at the Grammy Awards

Rapper Kanye West showed out at the 2015 Grammy Awards on Sunday night, making a spectacle that had many people talking. When it came time to announce the Grammy winner for Album of the Year, people were more than shocked to hear the name Beck announced through the room. Beck, an American musician and singer, went on stage to accept his award only to be joined by rapper Kanye West.

Beck seemed confused as Kanye moved toward the microphone, as if to say something, but walked off stage instead. A similar scene took place in 2009 when singer Taylor Swift won a Grammy and Kanye West intruded in on her acceptance speech to declare that Beyonce should have won.

Beyonce looked horrified watching the whole scene and his famous, “I’mma let you finish…,” speech was frowned upon by President Obama. His motives seemed to be the same this year as Kanye later made it known to E! News that Beyonce should have went home with Album of the Year.

“Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce,” Kanye suggested. Kanye went on to criticizing the Recording Academy saying, “When you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.” While Kanye and Beck’s relationship is probably tarnished, singer Taylor Swift seems to be totally cool with Kanye now. The two posed for several pictures together and even had a private chat with each other.

Beyonce did not seem bothered about not winning Album of the Year, as she ended up winning three Grammys that night. She took home Grammys for Best Surround Sound, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song. She did look shocked as Kanye went on stage as Beck won Album of the Year, but laughed it off with the rest of the audience as Kanye walked right back off.

Kanye, on the other hand, was not satisfied saying to E! News, “If they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us, we ain’t gonna play with them no more.” Fans seemed to have agreed with Kanye’s unsettling behavior because #WhoIsBeck became the second most trending hashtag after #TheGrammys.

The fan outburst might not be as influential as Kanye’s display. His Twitter followers believed that the legendary Paul McCartney was an unknown artist after doing a song with West. Kanye’s stage storming, Taylor Swift uniting, and E! News rant were not the only controversial West moments.

West’s storming of the stage was not the only big moment of the night for the precarious rapper. While performing the new hit Four Five Seconds, with Rihanna and Paul McCartney, Kanye stuck his middle finger up in the air. The Grammy Awards are one of the biggest nights of the year in the music industry. While there were countless music icons in attendance at the awards ceremony, some believe West’s behavior completely stole the show.
