End of the Year Celebrity Charity Events

Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic, Vegas Cares, and Dine Out for Heroes are three annual charitable events that were held recently. The events are some of the celebrity charities that are being held in the year 2017.

Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic

An amount of $800,000 was raised for a campaign on anti-child neglect and drug abuse in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida. The celebrity charity event is known as the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic. It was the 28th Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic charity event.

The celebrity charity event has earned more than $24 million over the last 28 years. USTA Florida reported that the money will be spent on assisting programs that are funded by the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County. It will also help programs that are financed by the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida.

The events at the 2017 weekend charity included a Charity-Gala, Pro-Am, and pro-celebrity tennis matches that lasted for two days. According to USTA Florida, over $200,000 of the $800,00 came from the charity gala’s silent and live auctions. Some of the money came from the Tennis Ball Can Challenge that was held on the evening of Nov. 5, 2017.

The concept of the Tennis Ball Challenge was that Luke Jensen and Dr. Phil were hitting tennis balls called moonballs to Martina Navratilova and Evert who attempted to catch them in a tennis ball can. This event earned $96,000.

Items at the auction included two Wimbledon packages, two all class Swiss Air round-world-trip that were tickets, a Jamaican Adventure at Golden Eye’s Ian Fleming Villa, four nights at the official WTA hotel, and two tickets to the Presidential Suite at the United States Open for the men’s and women’s finals.

Vegas Cares Event to Support Victims of the Las Vegas shooting

On Nov. 6, Britney Spears sold a watercolor painting that she painted for $10,000. The painting was sold at the auction in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” host Robin Leach purchased the painting at the auction. US Weekly reported that the money was earned for the organization Vegas Cares.

Vegas Cares will use the money to create a memorial that will be dedicated to the victims of the shooting on Oct. 1, during the country music festival. The mass shooting caused 58 fatalities and 546 injuries, making it the largest mass shooting in recent memory for the United States.

In a video during the auction Spears, who is 35, stated that she is pleased to call Vegas her second home. She then said she is glad to participate in the Vegas Cares auction. Vegas Cares is one of the celebrity special events that was managed in the year 2017.

Celebrity Chefs Hosted Charity

Dine Out for Heroes has profited ill and wounded veterans and their families. The annual event has been managed by the Bob Woodruff Foundation since 2014.

The 2017 Dine Out for Heroes occurred on Nov. 11. Variety reported that restaurants across New York City will donate $1.00 per dinner order to the celebrity chef fundraiser.

Restaurateurs Peter and Penny Glazier, or the Glazier Group, created the Dine Out for Heroes charity as an extension for the initial Stand Up for Heroes Event. Dine Out for Heroes is one of the many celebrity charities in the year 2017.
