Shooting in Springfield, Mass.

shooting
Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. EST, a man was shot in the yard of 122 Benton Street, near the Springfield High School in Massachusetts. Captain Robert Strempek with the Springfield police department stated the gunshot wound was in the victim’s leg. He was taken by ambulance to the Baystate Medical Center. It is anticipated that he will be fine.

The Captain reported two people were seen running from the area after the shooting took place. However, police were unable to obtain a description of these two possible suspects. It is also possible that the two were running from the scene in fear of being shot themselves.

Currently, the police do not have any suspects for the shooting at this time. There has also not been any word on the type of bullet used to shoot the man, so police can look for a weapon. This is an open and ongoing investigation.

Headliner’s Today will report updates as they are available.
