Rapper King Louie Laughing Talking Enjoying Life

Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, rapper King Louie, 27, was shot in the head. According to his manager, King Louie was in the Ashburn area of Chicago, on the Southwest Side.

He was shot in the 3900 block of West 83rd Street at 3:30 p.m. CST. Police reported that he was in a vehicle at the time he was shot. Police sent the rapper by ambulance to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His condition has stabilized. According to King Louie’s management team, he was “awake and talking.”

King Louie’s management team released a statement saying that he and his family are thankful for the prayers and support of his fans, it will not go unnoticed. He will be spending the holidays with his family and his will not stop being a voice for others surrounded by city violence, such as his personal encounter. Right now, however, he is focused on his healing.

Including King Louie, two people were killed and five other were injured in the Chicago shooting. Police are investigating. However, they are not saying if they have any leads.

King Louie, born Louis Johnson Jr. coined the term, “Chiraq” in 2009. Louis has also created “Drillinois,” a term from hip-hop that plays off the “Drill” genre. Himself, Lil Reese, Chief Keef, G Herbo, and Lil Durk were the Chicago rappers that made this hip-hop genre popular. Louie said he called the music Chiraq without thinking about anything beyond Drillinois, it was about the drill movement, according to what King Louie told the Chicago Sun-Times in 2014.
