Seattle: A Few Recommendations on Capitol Hill

Seattle Travel Food
When in Seattle a visit to Capitol Hill is an absolute must for anyone in the LGBT community. With a variety of shops, bars/clubs, and restaurants to choose from Capitol Hill is a very diverse part of the City of Seattle. A few of my favorite places include: the Purr Cocktail Lounge located on Eleventh (11th) Avenue, an excellent nightclub, Broadway Boutique, and a brand new recently opened restaurant, Fire Grill BBQ.

At the Purr, there’s usually always something to do from Miss Mattie’s Trivia Challenge on Sunday nights to Karaoke on Monday nights. If you visit make sure you try their Seasoned French Fries. They’re usually served with Ranch dipping sauce; I happen to find ketchup is better though, it all depends upon your taste. Looks like Thirst has met up with you; then I recommend topping off the experience with the Purr-tini, their signature martini. The staff members are very friendly and they make an attempt to get to know new people’s names as to make you feel you’re part of the family

If you’re meal hungry and not just in the mood to snack may I recommend Fire Grill BBQ. Located at 420 Broadway E, just across the street from Broadway Market, Fire Grill specializes in Portuguese style BBQ. Try the ½ Combo Special; served with a half BBQ chicken and 2 ribs. Combos come with your choice of two sides, which are as diverse as Capitol Hill itself, includes: Fries, Rice, Boiled Potatoes, Vegetables, or Black Beans, a serving of bread is also included with your meal. I recommend the rice I felt it was excellent. Still hungry after your meat, two sides, and drink then top it off with a slice of Cheesecake, which is one of the best things on the dessert menu. The staff is very friendly as well.

Got shopping on your mind? Check out Broadway Boutique, located at 113 Broadway E, catering to larger footed ladies, with shoe sizes ranging from six (6) to sixteen (16), as well as a great selection of clothing and accessories. The staff always seems very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and if they don’t have something they’ll help you locate it, or maybe they’ll send you to their sister store, Trendy Wendy.

If you’re more into Vintage and Thrift Shops I recommend Value Village. Located just across the street from the Purr, Value Village offers many departments including apparel, Electronics, Toys, House wares, and General Merchandise. As one knows the old saying is “One Man’s (or woman’s) trash is another man’s (or woman’s) treasure,” and Value Village is a great place to find those great “treasures.”
