Recently in the news, it’s come to everyone’s attention that Demi Lovato has been sporting a new tattoo on her side. The piece, to pretty much everyone’s eyes but hers, seems to be a simple tattoo that’s nothing but a mash-up of miscellaneous roman numerals in no particular order with no particular meaning. However, if you know Lovato, you know that the majority of what she does has some sort of meaning behind it, and this tattoo is no different. At least according to Perez Hilton.

Perez stated that the roman numerals over Lovato’s side are actually the birthdays of her father, Patrick; mother, Dianna; step-father, Eddie; and her sisters, Dallas and Maddie. It’s no surprise that sweetheart Demi has invested in such a heartwarming and permanent tribute to the people that she cares about most. The most shocking thing about the piece is that she didn’t get it done until now.

Along with this piece, Demi also has a few other tattoos that have stories deeper than what’s on the surface. Along with this newest piece, the star also has the phrase: “Now, I’m a warrior” tattooed on her back, and revealed a bit later, while in an interview, the true significance to the piece.

Lovato’s “Warrior” song on her new album was very, very meaningful to her. This is a song that was really difficult for her to write, record, and release. With this warrior piece, it’s easy to see that Demi has more than earned the right to sport such a strong piece. It’s well-known to most the struggles Demi went through with bipolar disorder and everyday drama such as boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, and diets. As a result, Demi has earned her fans respect, really being someone not only teens, but adults can relate to in many ways.

The warrior piece, in a way, is a great addition to all of her other brilliantly strong pieces, including the first tattoo the star ever got which was the phrase, “you make me beautiful” from the song “Beautiful” by Bethany Dillon. Going along with the theme of warrior as well, Demi explains that this tattoo was also something that gives her strength when she needs it.

“The words were so encouraging and lifted me through a really dark time in my life. It’s kind of a Christian tattoo, so for me it’s religious, but it could be for anybody. It’s one of my favorite songs ever. I got it because I was dealing with self-image issues. Thus, I got it tattooed on me to look in the mirror every day and remind myself that I am beautiful.”

Can’t wait to see the tattoo that Demi decides to get next. It’s easy to tell whatever Demi decides on, it’ll be much more than just a tattoo, and most likely it’ll have an even more interesting and heartfelt story behind it. Demi’s new tattoo seems to be a simple piece nothing but a mash-up of miscellaneous roman numerals.
