AmfAR Gala: Making AIDS History

AmfAR Gala: Making AIDS History

The AmfAR Gala was held on Oct. 29, 2014, at Milk in Los Angeles, California. The Foundation for AIDS research launched their “Inspiration Series” four years ago to celebrate men’s fashion and style while continuing to raise funds for their AIDS research programs. Celebrating one of the fashion industry’s biggest and most sought out designers, Tom Ford, was honored, and of course, the biggest celebrities were out to donate money to the lifesaving program, as well to celebrate Ford himself.

With that being said, let’s jump right in the fashion and what the celebs wore. I chose a few of my hits for the night and one miss that took me by shock. Of course, the bold, Bajan beauty Rihanna infatuated everyone in her straight off the runway look. Rocking a Spring 2015 Tom Ford dress (and one of my favorite looks from the collection!) With its high slit and the cutouts being so strategically placed, the detailing alone was mesmerizing. The sheer bodice also had heads turning. She added an orange lip and once again proved why she is a fashion favorite in the industry.

Socialite Bianca Brandolini D’Adda had one of the top looks of the night for me. She looked so chic, fresh, and modern in her Giambattista Valli Couture fall 2014 look. From the different patterns and the color combination, this is by far something I would love in my closet! See how the top has the little floral accents? So delicate. The black and white skirt also combines the two different styles so gracefully.

The other two looks I really enjoyed were Alessandra Ambrosio draped in a Suhair Murad Fall 2014 gown. The veteran Victoria’s Secret Angel looked sexy in the black, embellished, tulle gown. It literally looked like it was painted on her body and the slicked back ponytail made it even better. She truly looked amazing. Meanwhile, Kat Dennings always knocks it out the park when it comes to dressing for her hourglass shape. The 2 Broke Girls star word a hand draped Rubin Singer Fall 2014 evening gown. I would describe the color as a metallic, metal color with a liquid effect. She accessorized with a Carolina Herrera (CH) Swarovski crystal clutch. She wrapped up her look with red lips.

On the other hand, Dita Von Teese usually stuns every time I see her on the red carpet. This look, however, not so much. Now, she does not look bad at all, and in fact, she looks beautiful and I can see the type of look she was going for–one of her retro sexy looks. This Ulyana Sergeenko Couture Fall 2014 look was perfectly fine until she added the wide, black, flashy belt in true Dita fashion. The satin jacket and skirt combo are by far one of my favorites from the collection, so the only thing that I would change is the belt and if she would have hemmed the skirt up just a little. Other than that, she looked beautiful.

The man of the hour, Tom Ford, looked dapper in his tuxedo as usual. He swapped out the traditional black tuxedo jacket for a midnight blue velvet jacket (seriously, how handsome is he!) Not only was this event for a great cause, but it also shows recognition for the arts and innovative.
